15 mm is the workhorse for anything soft against skin. 20 mm gives headband makers enough face for prints. 25 mm handles thicker seams without puckering. When in doubt, sample two widths — that cost is nothing against a wrong 5,000-meter order.
Matte or shiny — which finish?
Shiny FOE has a bright, satin-like face. It reads premium on lingerie and hair accessories. Matte looks softer and calmer — the default for baby wear and most activewear, where glare looks cheap. Print behaves differently too: sublimation sits crisper on matte. Neither is better. Put both finishes in your sample pack and judge against your actual fabric.
How do you spec spandex content and recovery?
This is where cheap FOE hides. Ask your supplier two things in writing: what's the blend, and what's the recovery? Proper FOE is a nylon or polyester face with spandex for stretch. Recovery matters more than the blend percentage — stretch the tape to about double its length ten times, and it should come back close to original with no bagging.
Can you print on FOE?
Yes, three ways. Sublimation for full-color repeat prints on white or pale bases. Screen print for one- or two-color logos. Yarn-dyed solids when you just need color — we dye in-house, so shade matching stays under our roof.

How do you check FOE quality before a big order?
Two tests tell you nearly everything.
- Fold-line memory. Stretch a length hard, let go, and see if it still folds itself along the crease (this surprises most buyers) — good FOE snaps back to its fold, bad FOE goes flat and fights your sewing machine.
- Wash test. Sew a sample to your fabric and run five home washes. Look for edge waviness, color bleed and lost stretch. Ten minutes of sewing saves weeks of returns.
