Paracord is a braided nylon or polyester rope with a twisted multi-strand core, originally made for parachute suspension lines. Today it hangs off keychains, wraps knife handles, and gets knotted into a few million survival bracelets a year. We've been twisting and braiding cords at our Jaipur factory for over 20 years, and paracord runs on our lines almost daily.
Our standard is the 550-type with a 7-strand core. We also run 2mm micro cord and 6mm para-max, in polyester or nylon, across 100+ colour patterns. Survival buyers want the colours. Craft buyers want the meters. We do both.

What exactly is 550-type paracord?
The name traces back to the original parachute-line spec — a breaking strength of 550 pounds. What matters in manufacturing is the construction: a tight braided sheath over seven individually twisted core strands. Seven strands. One sheath. That's the whole trick, and it's why the cord stays flexible while carrying serious load.
We build the same construction on our own braiding machines, then dye in-house so colour stays consistent across reorders. Beyond the standard 550-type, we run 2mm micro cord for small knotwork and lacing, and 6mm para-max for buyers who want real heft in handles and leashes. On the fibre question: nylon stretches more and has the classic slightly silky hand, while polyester stretches less and holds colour far better in sunlight (this surprises most buyers, who assume nylon is always the premium pick).
Colours or meters — which paracord buyer are you?
After years of export orders, we see two clean camps. The survival and EDC crowd — bracelet makers, knife shops, outdoor brands — buys colour range. They'll take 20 or 30 patterns in modest lengths because a wall of colours is what sells at retail. The craft camp — macrame studios, knotters, pet-gear makers — buys the opposite: three or four colours in long runs, because they hate mid-project spool changes.
So we spool both ways, from 50 meters up to 300 meters. Same cord, different logic.
Where is paracord demand strongest right now?
Google search data (July 2026) puts US paracord searches at 40,500 a month — by far the biggest market. But I'll be straight with you: the US organic ranking difficulty sits at 74, and the results are packed with entrenched domestic brands. Honestly, if your plan is ranking a fresh website for paracord in America, you'll wait years — go wholesale, marketplace, or paid instead. The demand is real; the free clicks aren't.
Europe is friendlier. Czechia shows 2,400 monthly searches with a summer camping peak, and Norway's 1,300 searches spike in December, per Google search data (July 2026). Finland holds a steady 1,000. Turkey is at 1,600 and climbing. The quiet opportunities are South Africa and Singapore — 880 searches each, both with transactional intent and low difficulty. UAE is small at 210, but Dubai feeds the whole Gulf.
